In a rural territory where winter nights are long and distances between hamlets can isolate individuals, public gatherings serve as essential social lifelines. The Association des Amis de la Licorne curates a rich annual calendar of public events designed to stimulate curiosity, foster warm interpersonal relationships, and celebrate the shared heritage of Haute-Corrèze.
Every event organized by our association adheres strictly to our non-profit, non-commercial ethos. Entrance is unconditionally free of charge. No tickets are sold, no commercial products are promoted, and no financial donations are solicited. Whether you are a regular library patron or stepping into our hall for the first time, you are received with equal warmth, dignity, and neighborly hospitality.

Our programming follows the rhythm of rural life, harmonizing with agricultural seasons, school holidays, and natural cycles across the plateau:

Guided literary rambles along the gorges of the Dordogne, poetry competitions in primary schools, and seed-swapping gatherings accompanied by botanical gardening literature.

Open-air reading lounges installed in the village square, historical exhibitions for summer visitors, and twilight storytelling under the ancient lime trees of Le Bourg.

L'Heure du Conte: Spring Tale & Puppet Circle

An interactive storytelling session for children aged 3 to 10 and their families. Volunteer narrators bring ancient forest legends to life using tactile felt boards and handmade puppets. Includes a free illustrated activity sheet for every young reader.
Annual General Assembly & Public Cultural Review

The statutory annual meeting open to all citizens of Liginiac. Presentation of our financial statements, review of the rural mobile crate network, and open debate on upcoming literary acquisitions. Concludes with a friendly non-commercial community reception.
Guided Eco-Walk: Reading the Dordogne Forest Corridor

A gentle 4-kilometer guided walking tour starting at the library steps and descending toward the Dordogne riverbanks. Volunteer naturalists pair botany explanations with readings of classic French naturalist literature (Jean Giono, Henri Bosco, Maurice Genevoix). Open to all fitness levels; sturdy walking shoes recommended.
Heritage Roundtable: The Builders of Marèges Dam

A community oral history symposium featuring archival glass-plate photograph projections and recorded audio testimonies from descendants of workers who constructed the iconic Marèges arch dam in the 1930s. Moderated by our volunteer archive committee.

Practical Information & Free Registration
While all events are unconditionally free, physical room capacity in the municipal library is limited to 45 participants for security reasons. For indoor symposiums and children's workshops, simple advance notification by telephone or email is appreciated to help our volunteers arrange seating and refreshments.
Disabled access is fully assured for all events held in the municipal building. For elderly or mobility-impaired residents living in outlying hamlets who wish to attend an event but lack transportation, volunteer carpooling can be coordinated upon request.
